The Erosion - and Defense - Of Voting Rights
The League hosted a forum on October 19 to discuss the acceleration of perceived assaults on voting rights and explore issues such as voter roll purges, changes to polling places, and ID requirements. We were joined by Constitutional Law Professor, Sam Marcosson, Cyndi Lewis with LSURJ, and Amber Duke, Executive Director for ACLU of Kentucky. The election protection program was offered as a way we can help ensure a fair election. The recording is available on Youtube:
Every Vote Matters - Restoring Civil Rights
As a citizen of Kentucky, you lose the right to vote and hold public office if you are convicted of a felony. However, Governor Andy Beshear issued an Executive Order automatically restoring the right to vote and the right to hold public office for Kentuckians who have been convicted of non-violent felonies and who have satisfied their term of supervised release and/or their sentence of incarceration.
If you did not qualify for automatic restoration, you may still apply for restoration of your civil rights. The League of Women Voters of Louisville is available to help justice involved individuals restore their voting rights. LWV is available at the Louisville Urban League every Thursday through Oct 29 to assist in the process.
JCPS School Board Forums
As a result of a new law passed this year the number of JCPS board districts is reduced from 7 to 5. All five districts are up for election this November. Visit jefferson.kyschools.us/page/board-of-education for information on district boundaries and role of the board.

How Did Your Legislator Vote?
LWVKY is introducing its new Kentucky Legislative Voting Report! This report is a compilation of legislators' votes on bills for which LWVKY has stated positions. Citizens may use this report to educate themselves on how Legislators voted in the 2026 General Assembly session.
