Every Vote Matters - Restoring Civil Rights
As a citizen of Kentucky, you lose the right to vote and hold public office if you are convicted of a felony.
However, Governor Andy Beshear issued an Executive Order automatically restoring the right to vote and the right to hold public office for Kentuckians who have been convicted of non-violent felonies and who have satisfied their term of supervised release and/or their sentence of incarceration.
If you did not qualify for automatic restoration, you may still apply for restoration of your civil rights.
The League of Women Voters of Louisville is available to help justice involved individuals restore their voting rights. LWV is available at the Louisville Urban League every Thursday through Oct 29 to assist in the process.
JCPS School Board Forums
As a result of a new law passed this year the number of JCPS board districts is reduced from 7 to 5. All five districts are up for election this November. Visit jefferson.kyschools.us/page/board-of-education for information on district boundaries and role of the board.

Kentucky Jails Working with ICE: A Call for Accountability
The State League issued a report September 8 called Kentucky Jails working with ICE: A Call for Accountability. Twelve Kentucky jails are being paid to house people in ICE custody, and most of those people have no criminal convictions.
Jenn Jackson, MD, State President says, "We ask all jails that are working with ICE to provide fully transparent inmate lists and provide evidence that the human rights and dignity of those in custody are being respected. The Kentucky Lantern featured this report as well.
