Do you have a certain passion? Do you have knowledge or skills that can make a difference? We have a variety of committees that allow you to contribute in your own way, on your schedule.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee manages the budget and financial statements. It researches major purchases for the League especially those related with maintaining the Lang House.

Fundraising
This committee oversees fundraising campaigns and includes reaching out to individual donors. As a 501(3)(C) with a reputable history, donors are motivated by our mission. This is a skill that can be learned!

Observer Corp
As Justice Louis Brandeis stated, "Sunshine is the best disinfectant," so the work of the Observer Corps volunteers is to shed light on the work of government. League members will learn how to observe and report government and public meetings, such as Metro Council and Committee meetings, the JCPS Board Meetings, and other hearings such as by utilities.

Lang House
The Lang House is the headquarters for LWV Louisville. The League frequently hosts public meetings on important topics at this location. The Lang House is also available to the public for event rentals and has several long term clients renting the spaces for classes. Members help with gardening, beautification, overseeing repairs and cleaning service.

Voter Services
Voter Services mission is to register new voters, educate voters, and get voters to the polls. It is the root of the League and remains our primary focus. In the 2025/2026 year, the committee tabled at over 60 events across the Louisville Metro area. The team also performs canvassing door to door to Get Out the Vote. If knocking doors is not your thing, there are also opportunities to text voters with a dedicated application.

High School Voter Services
High School Voter Services team visits Louisville Metro public and private High Schools to educate students on the voting process, explain why voting matters, and registering students who will be 18 by the next general election. Training on voter registration is available and new members are paired with more experienced members.

Membership
The Membership Committee welcomes new members to the League and helps them find their groove. It also leads efforts to recruit new members and retain existing members.

Communications
The Communications Committee enables the League to amplify its message through its website, social media, and print communication. Members maintain the website, update social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram, and design flyers/cards. While a knowledge of website content management tools (Squarespace) or Graphic design software (CANVA) is helpful its not required.

Health
The Health Committee focuses on advocating for Medicaid, expansion of behavioral health services, promoting preventive health initiatives, and raising awareness of effects of social determinants of health. While the legislature is in session, it also evaluates health related bills.

Environmental Issues
The Environmental Issues Committee mission is addressing Environmental injustice and the unequal burden that persists and hopefully solutions.

Education and Housing
This committee advocates for public education and especially early childhood education. It also addresses issues regarding low income housing. The team has sponsored educational forums at the Lang House to advocate for these topics. While there is no designated Chair, the team meets regularly.
